CCR Products' high precision ceramic balls are used in extremely harsh environments where high temperatures, harsh chemicals, or corrosive and erosive substances are present. CCR Products offers ceramic balls in 3 different materials; silicon nitride, zirconia, and alumina oxide. Silicon nitride balls are used in applications where light weight, high loads, high speeds and extreme temperatures are concerns. Silicon nitride balls require no lubrication, are non magnetic and are resistant to corrosion from most substances. Surface finishes can typically be better than steel, to 0.15 uin to 0.25 uin typ. (0.004 μm to 0.006 μm). Alumina oxide balls have excellent dimensional stability at temperatures up to 2,000°F, resist oxidation and are tolerant to water, salt solutions and many chemicals and acids (not recommended for environments containing hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids or strong alkaline solutions). Zirconia balls are unaffected by corrosive materials except for hydrofluoric and hot concentrated sulfuric acid.
